The Popcorn Book by Tomie dePaola

 

Who doesn't love popcorn? Popcorn is a huge hit in my house. So much so that if anyone pops popcorn anywhere in the house everyone runs in with a bowl to grab some. We usually have to pop three bags at least when we have popcorn. We only have one kid who is not a fan of this amazing treat and that is Miles. In this book Tony likes to cook. Tiny likes to read. But both twins like to eat Popcorn! So while Tony cooks it, tiny reads about what popcorn is. The Popcorn Book by Tomie dePaola was published in January 1978. 

I really wanted to like this book and really hoped my kids would like it but...that didn't happen. My kids were confused about the non-fiction and the fiction aspect of the book. We felt like it was two books in one and they were different. We loved the illustrations in the book but could not get into this book at all. I did like how much we learned when it came to popcorn which is something we love to eat. But it was confusing text.
