50 States of Reading: Utah

 

  The next state that we learned about is Utah. My kids know a little about Utah's history as it's also the history of our church as we are Latter-day Saints or Mormons. We read a couple of books to learn about the state and were able to enjoy learning about it. 

Utah (It's My State!) by Doug Sanders was published in February 2004. This book is full of text and really is for upper elementary to middle school kids. It has amazing pictures of Utah through out the book which is great for younger kids. It's would be a great book if you were having kids use it for research opportunity. It would not be the best book to read right before bed time as it has a lot of text. 

Utah (True Book My United States) by Josh Gregory was published in September 2018. This book is full of facts as well. It has amazing photographers of different areas of Utah. But it also has sections where it has facts in all over. It shows really neat graphics where it funs to show and explain to my kids. Such as how many Mormons live in Utah. My kids really enjoyed listening to me read this book and able to teach them about Utah. 

We colored out map of the United States for an activity then colored the state flag.
