50 States of Reading: Connecticut

 

On our next adventure we headed to Connecticut. My kids knew a little about Connecticut, in that it was on the east coast and that it was one of the first states. We didn't read a lot of books for Connecticut as we were getting the kids reading for the Presidential Inauguration. For us that was a little more important to learn about. In case you haven't noticed we are trying to read the states when they joined the United States. The anniversary as close as possible.  January has some fun holidays that are all in the same week though. If you want to see more holiday list check here. 

Connecticut (It's My State!) by Michael Burgan was published February 2018. I really enjoyed this book and it's amazing photographs. This book goes in huge depth but puts it where third grade and above can understand it. I love that it talks about all different things about the state and uses graphics. I also love that it has certain pages that are for the state flag and state bird. My kids really enjoyed learning about Connecticut though this book. 

We colored our flag and we colored our map. The kids had a blast looking for the state on the map. The kids are really enjoying our trip around the United States. Click Here if You Want a Copy
