The Good Egg by Jory John

The good egg has been good for as long as he can remember. While the other egg in his carton are kind of rotten, he always does the right, kind, and courteous thing. He is a verrrry good egg indeed! Until one day he decides that enough is enough! He begins to crack (quite literally) from the pressure of always having to be grade-A perfect. The Good Egg by Jory John illustrated by Pete Oswald was published in February 2019. This is number two in the Bad Seed series. This book was nominated for Monarch Award in 2021 and Goodreads Choice Award for Picture Books in 2019.

This book is so cute and is full of puns such as the main character says his brain feels scrambled. Some of the jokes in this book went over Cassie's head but Mason was able to get a lot of the jokes in this book. The illustrations in this book are bright and colorful. They were to keep the attention on the book as the book was read aloud. Also the pictures say a lot more then the text does. Also it gives the many characters personalities. The text of this book is adorable and has some funny little jokes. I really like how they are reminding kids that you don't have to be perfect 100% of the time where you can not have fun. It's okay to make mistakes and have fun. The only small issue I had was the names of the other characters they were so similar that it can cause a little tongue tie. But I recommend checking this book out.
