50 States of Reading: Florida

Yesterday, was the anniversary when Florida became a state of the United States of America. So we decided to "travel" to Florida through a book. My kids are dying to go to Florida. I think it's mostly because they want to go to do Disney World or Legoland more then anything. We can't wait to actually visit the state.

Florida (Rookie Read-About Geography) by Carmen Bredeson was published in January 2008. This book follows the National Curriculum Standard. I love the rookie books as they are so amazing to introduce young elementary kids to non-fiction. The books are short for those with short attention spans. I love the photographs and graphics in this book are simple for a young kid but also so that an older kid could enjoy it. This book is a must check out.
