Goodnight Already! by Jory John

We have all been there. When we are exhausted as parents and yet our children for some odd reason decided that night to not go to sleep. This book was created for us. Meet Bear, he's exhausted and all he wants to do is to go to sleep. Meet Duck, he's Bear's persistent next-door neighbor and all he wants to do is hang out with Bear. Goodnight Already! by Jory John illustrated by Benji Davies was published in December 2014. This is the first book in Bear & Duck series. This book was a Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Picture Books in 2015.

The illustrations in this book make me giggle and giggle. As a parent you feel for Bear and how exhausted he looks in the illustrations. He bags upon bags under his eyes. Duck looks like the annoying child that just won't go to sleep. Jory John has written an amazing book with a very cute story line that most parents can or will experience while raising children. I know I have been so exhausted that I could just crash and yet...my children somehow has found the energy to not sleep. My kids really liked this story and thought it was so funny most likely it's funny because they haven't experienced that level of exhaustion. The story kept their attention and kept them laughing which is a huge plus. This book is really easy to read-aloud especially if you want to give the characters their own voice as their is only two characters. This book would be great to read before bedtime.
