Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes

Chrysanthemum thinks her name is absolutely perfect - until her first day of school. Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes was published in September 1996. This book is apart of the Mouse Books set. This book was a nominee for California Young Readers Medal for Primary in 1994.

I absolutely love this story so much. The illustrations in this book are amazing and colorful and it's so easy to fall in love with the book because of the illustrations. But the text and story-line in this book are absolutely perfect as well. I love how he talks about bullying in this book but it's not in your face. Just like sometimes bullying can be just horrible mean words. I love how he showed how it made the main character feel and how the teacher was trying to put a stop to it. This book is so amazing and I think it should be in every school library and every nursery of a baby. This book is so easy to read aloud and perfect to read first few days of school. I highly recommend it.
