How to Tame a Triceratops by Will Dare

This book was one of the chapter books that we read for family read time. Family Read time in our house is right before bed at night. We used to do picture books until recently we started reading chapter books together. In this book, a wild west frontier where dinosaurs never went extinct. Josh Sanders wants to be the next big dinosaur cowboy like his hero, Terrodactyl Bill. Too bad he's stuck working his family's iguanodon rance, riding his ancient dino. To prove he has what it takes, Josh is determined to win the annual settlement race. But he's gonna need one fast dino to stand a change. How to Tame a Triceratops by Will Dare was published in April 2017. This book is the first book in the Dino Riders series.

I personally thought the book was slow in the beginning as it built up to the great scenes. My kids really enjoyed this book and loved all the funny little quotes throughout. I love how it teaches to never give up and there is always a way to go outside the box. The illustrations are adorable and almost on every other page throughout. This book was great to read a loud and the chapters are short but not too short that you would have to read more. We usually were able to get through a chapter in about 10 minutes. My kids really enjoyed the book and the things that the main character did. The story-line is great and it flows really well from each scene. The main character has faults and strengths so he is pretty well rounded. I recommend checking it out.
