Book Review: The Haunted by Jessica Verday

This is book two in The Hollow series. Check out book one: The Hollow. 

In The Haunted by Jessica Verday, after the summer spent reclaiming her sanity and trying to forget the boy she fell in love with -- the boy who must not exist, cannot exist, because she knows that he is dead. Abbey returns to Sleepy Hollow, ready to leave the ghosts of her past behind. She throws herself into her schoolwork, her perfume-making and her friendship with Ben, her cute and funny lab partner, who just might be her ticket to getting over Caspian once and for all. But Abbey can never get over Caspian, and Caspian has no choice but to return to her side, for Caspian is a Shade, and Abbey is his destiny. They are tied not only to each other, but also to the town of Sleepy Hollow, and to the famous legend that binds their fate.

So this was the first book I saw in the series and me being silly bought it. Because doesn't this cover grab your attention and make you want to know what it is about. When I brought it home I found out that it was book 2 so I had to go out to the library and get book one. So, this book starts when Abbey is nearing the end of her stay away from Sleepy Hollows. Let's just say, Sleepy Hollows had some issues that Abbey had to work through or did she. I was really rooting for her and Ben to hook up but alas you find out that Ben was only wanting to be with Abbey is because he was in love with Abbey's best friend. I really enjoyed this book and all the twist and turns Abbey caused in her mind. It's interesting being inside Abbey's mind and trying to figure things out like she has to. Also just to get by day to day things. When you find out that Caspian is a Shade it becomes hard to swallow a bit but things start to clear up. The characters are amazing...I really like how Jessica Verday, gives them different personalities and keeps it all apart. She helps the reader grieve with Abbey throughout of missing her best friend. I recommend reading this story.
