Book Review: Leo: A Ghost Story by Mac Barnett

Mac Barnett is a New York Times bestselling author of more than 24 books for children, including two Caldecott-Honor-winning collaborations with Jon Klassen: Sam & Dave Dig a Hole, which also won the E.B White Read-Aloud Award, and Extra Yarn, which won both the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and the E.B. White Read-Aloud Award.

Leo: A Ghost Story was named one of the Ten Best Illustrated Books of 2015 by The New Yrok Times. In Leo: A Ghost Story, You learn about Leo. He likes to draw, he makes delicious snacks, and most people can't even see him. Because Leo is also a ghost. When a new family moves into his home and Leo's efforts to welcome them are misunderstood, Leo decides it is time to leave and see the world. That is how he meets Jane, a kid with tremendous imagination and an open position for a worthy knight. That is how Leo and Jane become friends. And there adventures begin.

I really wanted my three kids to like this book. I love how it talks about Leo and all he really wanted was someone to love him for being him. My kids didn't like this book at all they found it dragging and rather read something else. The illustrations were amazing and I really liked how they moved from darker colors to lighter colors as the book progressed. I wish there was more to the story and more adventures he had with his new friend.
