The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night by Peter Spier

A timeless folk song provides inspiration for some of the funniest, brightest drawings Peter Spier has every produced. In the song, a fox forages for food in the village to bring to his family back in the den. The Fox Went Out on a Chilly Night by Peter Spier was published in 1961. This book was nominated for Caldecott in 1962.

This book is so amazing. The illustrations are colorful and life-like and really fit the folk-lore song that it goes with. I love the song that the story is after and also love that it's at the end of the book. Cassie really enjoyed listening the book and then we tried to sing it as well. We used the book for the Letter F as it has a fox. But really this book would even be perfect for bedtime as it not's a loud book at all. Cassie loved finding the fox on every page as we read the book. I highly recommend you to check it out.
