Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama by Selina Alko

Holiday time at Sadie's house means golden gelt sparkling under the Christmas tree, candy canes hanging on eight menorah branches, voices uniting to sing carols about Macabees and the manger, and latkes on the mantel awaiting Santa's arrival. Daddy Christmas and Hanukkah Mama by Selina Alko was published in January 2012.

This is the third Christmas book that we read this year. I love teaching my kids different religions and different cultures. I think it is so important for kids to learn about everything and then for them to find what fits them the best. The illustrations in this book are so different then what you find in most books. Its like they took clips of newspapers in some and colored over it or pieced different pieces of papers together to illustrate this book. This book has a lot of details both the illustrations and the text. I love how they mixed the two holidays to make one for this family. It left me time to discuss what pieces is from Christmas and one pieces that go with Hanukkah. It's such a cute story and worth checking out.
