Book Review: The Birthday Cake by Joy Cowley

At my kids school they have a free book library outside for kids to take a book and leave books for others. My kids selected "The Birthday Cake" by Joy Cowley and illustrated by Jenni Webb. In this book a couple is trying to make a birthday cake with different colors. What will the cake look like?

My kids really liked this book because it was simple enough for each of them to read the book. My older two can read the words in the book. My three year old was able to look at the simple illustrations and be able to tell what the words were meaning. It's a great book to start off your new independent readers.
