Millie Waits for The Mail by Alexander Steffensmeier

Millie is unlike most other cows. She chews her cud and grazes in the fields with the others, but she doesn't enjoy that nearly as much as she loves scaring the mail carrier. It's too bad the mail carrier doesn't have as much fun each time Millie comes up with a new way to surprise him. Who knew delivering the mail was going to be such a difficult job? Millie Waits for The Mail by Alexander Steffensmeier was published in 2006. This is book one of the Lieselotte series. This book has won the California Young Readers Medal for Primary in 2010.

This story is is so funny, Cassie and read this together and she giggled so much while we read this amazing little book. The illustrations in this book really help keep the attention of kids. The illustrations are bright and colorful. The animals look amazing and it looks like each one has their own personality. The text was easy to read a loud but also easy enough for new readers to work on reading. This book even has a great story line while the cow is waiting for the mail to come. I recommend this book for preschoolers and young readers.
