Fancy Nancy by Jane O'Connor

Meet Nancy, who believes that more is ALWAYS better when it comes to being fancy. From the top of her tiara down to her sparkly studded shoes, Nancy is determined to teach her family a thing or two about being fancy and using fancy words. How Nancy transforms her parents and little sister for one enchanted evening makes for a story that is funny and warm - with or without the frills. Fancy Nancy by Jane O' Connor was published in January 1987. This is one of the books of Fancy Nancy series. It was Borders Original Voices Award for Picture books in 2006.

I feel like the world went back on it's self. You see Fancy Nancy series were one of Ginny's favorite when she was in Kindergarten. But alas I am not reading these to Ginny anymore but now I am reading and enjoying them with Cassie. I feel like Fancy Nancy is a book character that can go through different generations. Especially since it was published the year I was born. The illustrations in this book are so colorful and so full of personality. You can see each characters and animals facial reactions on every page. The text is so sweet and so filled with vocabulary words. I love how Nancy gives the definitions of those big words. This book is an introduction into who Nancy is and how she loves everything fancy in her terms. She loves to talk fancy words and wants her family to join in on the fancy theme. I love how she teaches them and they use this time to follow her. Cassie absolutely adores this book and could not wait to read more from this series.
