A Pig Parade is a Terrible Idea by Michael Ian Black

Could anything possibly be more fun than a pig parade!? You wouldn't think so. But you'd be wrong. A pig parade is a terrible idea. Pigs hate to march, refuse to wear the uniforms, don't care about floats, and insist on playing country music ballads. Those are just some of the reasons. A Pig Parade is a terrible idea by Michael Ian Black illustrated by Kevin Hawkes was published January 2010.

The illustrations in this book are so perfect. They really show why the Pig Parade was a bad idea with the silly antics on every page. The illustrations are bright and colorful and have a lot going on. It makes the kids giggle on every page. I love that it shows how to argue a point with a general thesis statement. Also the book is great on transition words and how they have several reasons why the Pig parade is not a good idea. Then the restate all of the points at the end of the book in a conclusion. It's great book to use for essay induction to elementary kids. There is so many different things teachers could use this book for and make an activity based around it. This is such a cute book and we absolutely love this book. My kids loved every part of this book and it was easy to read aloud. I highly recommend checking this book out and reading to all ages.
