Book Review: Eating the Alphabet by Lois Ehlert

Lois Ehlert has created numerous bestselling picture books, including Chica Chica Boom Boom, Holey Moley, The Scraps Book, Mice, Ten Little Caterpillars, RRRalph, Lots of Spots, Boo to You!, Leaf Man, Waiting for Wings, Planting a Rainbow, Growing Vegetable Soup, and Color Zoo, which recieved a Caldecott Honor. She lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Eating the Alphabet by Lois Ehlert is about teaching upper and lowercase letters to preschoolers. The author introduces fruits and vegetables from around the world. At the end of the book there is interesting facts about each food.
I usually love Lois Ehlert books, but I was really disappointed in this book. As it was slow and some of the letters were forced using fruits and vegetables. I was hoping that it wasn't forced in a lot of it. My kids really enjoyed the the illustrations of the book and I liked how life like they look with the look of textures on every page. If you don't mind the force letters of the alphabet check this book out.
